Burning is erroring out, everytime

I am using 1Click DVD Copy 5 and all of a sudden I cannot burn movies… The error I am getting in the log is

Writer: write error at 1181072(16) - Code 04 03 04 [Hardware error]

Anyone have any ideas about this? Does this mean my DVD burner is dead? I have uninstalled the device and reinstalled it and still it fails…

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the response… now when I try and burn any disc I get the following error

The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume “XYZ” into drive E:.

Just seemed like everything has died…

Thoughts?

Ok… after uninstalling and reinstalling I got it to at least run… The log file is as follows

anyhting you can suggest would be great

Open 1Click -
Right Click on the 1Click Interface > Settings Menu

>>Set= Your “Preferred Burn Speed” at 1/2 of your Media’s rating
ie: IF You’re using 16x Media = Set for 8x ;
8x Media = 4x

Since you are using a Laptop slim drive
You best results may be burning at 4x

Try replying “No” to the 'Exact Copy" prompt
Instead ;
Select the 1Click options = 'Menus" + “Extras” + “Subtitles”

MATSHITA drives are nothing but problems
I see a External DVD/RW in your future

Here's the Usual .....troubleshoots ...

Let's check something .....

Go to > Start > My Computer
> Right Click on DVD drive > Properties > Auto-Play tab

What do you have selected for the "Action to Perform" for 'DVD Movie" ?
This should be set as "Take no action"
OR
Set only for your DVD Player ( WinDVD/Power DVD )
- be sure to close your 'Player' before opening 1Click

What do you have selected for the "Action to Perform" for 'Blank CD" ?
This should be set as "Take no action"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go to
> Start > My Computer
> Right Click on DVD drive > Properties
Do you have a "DLA" tab ?
= Disable DLA
 Let's look at your Filters
> Download IMGBurn. It's a free program:
http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
(it's also an excellent burning program )
> Run IMGBurn > Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order
> Click "Clipboard". Close IMGBurn
Then paste the information you copied into your clipboard
Here's some Help - with maybe ... reducing your Computer's load ....
I'd recommend that you [Try using EnditALL while Copying/Burning](http://forum.lgsoftwareinnovations.com/showthread.php?t=15256)
... to free up your resources
... You might be surprised at what's running - in the background
Open [Advanced SystemCare Free](http://www.iobit.com/AdvancedWindowsCarePersonal/index.html)> Utilities > Admin Tools > Start-Up Manager
( it's completely free and a very recommended clean-up program )
You will be presented with a listing of the Programs
- Programs that are designated to Start-Up with Windows
- and Descriptions of Each ( Click on Selection )
Any Start Up Entry - Referring to any DVD/CD Software ?
Windows Media Player (wmpnscfg) ?
ITunes ?
If So = UN Check it
This only Disables the Program - from the List
- Designated to 'Start-Up' - with Windows
You would - still - be able to 'manually' start the Program(s) - when needed
Also ......
UN Check anything - Not Trustworthy
UN Check anything - Not Necessary or Not Preferred
( you may later click on an Start-Up item > Select Enable - If you prefer )
>> Apply
> Reboot
or -
You could also , Go into Msconfig - and Deselect unneeded Programs
- from your 'Start Up"
This will help a lot .....
[How to use MSCONFIG ?](http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/)
..... but ... Most Importantly ....
Ultimately :
I would strongly suggest getting a
- better - faster - current technology
- External DVD Burner
Laptop Burners aren't known for their reliability
when burning DVD Movies
MATSHITA drives are nothing but problems
The heat generated when Burning DVDs -
will cause problems for your DVD/RW Drive
and can eventually Kill your Laptop :eek:
.... at the very ..... very least
You should be using a [Notebook Cooler](http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=laptop+cooling+pad&x=7&y=32)
Avoid = HP , Memorex or any 'small name' External Burners
Externals by Samsung , LG , Pioneer , Lite-On or Sony would do well
This should get you started ....
Go here
>> Pick an Internal Burner +/- $30.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2000100005%204025%201036506653&bop=And&Order=RATING
>> Pick an external Enclosure +/-$30.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010090092+1053807122&name=5.25%22
Place the Internal Burner into the External Enclosure = External Burner ( $70.00 +/- )
You may find an 'exclusive' External burner - for around that Price
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010100420+1036506653+4026&name=%2450+-+%2475
- But you will not have the choice of Burners
that you could have in Selecting an Internal
Here's some [=20:394/popup1[]=23:355/sortby=rating"]External - 'Comparison' Shopping](http://computers.pricegrabber.com/dvd-rom-dvd-writers/p/7/popup7[)
Ask for Specific Recommendations ... once you take a look around ;)
If you're Serious about Burning DVDs with your LapTop
You'll get an External
..... anyway .... That should give you some Ideas
Following your tips, I got it working… YOU ROCK… I am looking at some of the external burners that you suggested as well… Looks like Best Buy has an LG on sale… unfortunately it doesn’t look like it rates well… time to do some research
Thanks Again
Your Filters are fine
 • there’s nothing there to warrant any concern about conflicting Software
:cool:
The 20x LG would do fine
As would the Pioneer on sale
Avoid the HP
Your best bet is to …
Get a screwdriver
Go here
>> Pick an Internal Burner
New 22x DVD Burners are only $30.00+/-
LG // GH22
Samsung 222/223
Pioneer
then >
>> Pick an External Enclosure +/-$30.00
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010090092+1053807122&name=5.25"
Place the Internal Burner into the External Enclosure = External Burner ( $70.00 +/- )
later , If/ when the time comes to replace the drive
You’ll just get another internal drive - and slip it into the reusable enclosure
Most USB drives
 • depending on the drive , enclosure chip-set used and your Computer config
 • don’t do well above 8x/12x
I’m sure that there are exceptions
… but … in most cases ( that I’ve seen around at the Forums )
Trying to Burn much faster than 8x will usually induce a burn failure
fwiw …
An enclosure with an Optional eSATA connection
Is well worth the investment
You should be able to add an eSATA card to your Laptop/ desktop
A eSATA connection can be just as fast as an Internal Drive
:slight_smile:
