I just purchased my first computer and know basically nothing about them except how to use the internet. I want to make back up copys of my dvds to use because my daughter always scratches up the originals. I don’t know what I need to download to do that. I know how to do this with cd’s but can’t figure it out with dvd’s. I have vista 64. Thanx:confused:
For decrypting/ripping a commercial DVD and burning to a blank DVD one popular program is DVDFab Decrypter, http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm. It has a 30 day free trial so you can see if it meets your needs. It’s a pretty good all-in-one solution. There is a free option included with DVDFab which will work after the trial version has expired, but your options will be limited and you will need a burning program like Imgburn, http://www.imgburn.com/, to burn the ripped DVD to a blank disk.
There is a very good DVDFab subforum here at CDFreaks, you might want to check there for more information. Also, a good brand of blank DVD will be needed, Verbatim or TY are two recommended brands.
For the simplest solution, shell out for DVD Fab, CloneDVD etc.
For the free solution:
- Rip DVD with DVD Fab HD Decrypter
- use DVD Shrink to fit dvd on a single DVDR
- use ImgBurn to burn the ISO output from DVD Shrink
In both cases, use high quality media: Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden etc.
