Burning .AVI and .MK4 files to DVD

Hello All!

How can I burn .AVI files and .MK4 files to a DVD so they can be watched on a DVD player?

Sorry for the lame question: I am new!

Thank you in advance

DVDFlick, http://www.dvdflick.net/
AVStoDVD, http://sites.google.com/site/avstodvdmain/
DVDStyler, http://dvdstyler.org/en/

All freeware.

ConvertXtoDVD, http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/. Not freeware.

There is a faster solution (if your computer is not fast enough for video encoding): get a media player like these and you only need a hard disk

geno gave the best advice. Skip the time and money and just get a media player. Heck, if you have an HDTV then recycle an older computer and us it to do all manner of tasks.

The solutions above are good from the suggested converters to an older computer converted into a media center.

My main wide screen TV has USB input . I just use a regular 1 HDD docking station.
The TV apparently can play several video file formats. So I don’t even need a media player.
On the DVD compliant format there is a slight “pause” as it loads each .vob seperately. This is something I can live with .
With .avi of .mkv it plays the complete file.
I do wish it would play from .iso .

Dear All,

Many thanks for the replies!

I decided to use ConvertXtoDVD, and it worked like a charm.

Best wishes,

I use ConvertDVD and it is a very user friendly program. I hardly ever burn discs since I built a computer for the HDTV.

Thanks for the input Jolie16 .
I think you will find that software inferior.
If you are looking for freeware Whappo listed the best .
He also listed ConvertXtoDVD which is one of the best paid for.
I don’t think you will find better.
