Burner won't play DVD Movies

[qanda]This thread is about the Pioneer DVR-110D / DVR-R100 / DVR-610. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]My burner has recently developed a problem. It will not play ALL DVD movies.

It WILL NOT play backup copies of movies on DVD+R disks. It WILL play original DVD’s and video files on DVD+R disks that were created as data disks. The burner did not have this problem a week ago. As far as I know, I did not make any software or system changes.

I played the problem DVD’s on another PC with the same software and a standalone player without difficulty.

Any help would be appreciated.

Burner: Pioneer DVR-R100
OS: Windows XP - SP3
Video Player: Gom Player
Burnng Software: Nero

Start up in SAFE MODE and try again, post the results.

Tried it in Safe Mode. No difference.

Hm, but the disc/content is recognized??

No, Chef.

An ‘original’ movie DVD will start up and play on my Pioneer burner just fine. It’s files will be recognized. ‘Copy’ movie DVD’s will no longer play or be recognized. I can record and play ‘Data’ disks of files on it including AVI & WMV files. The files are recognized and will play.

I have tried some of the problem DVD’s on standalone players and another PC using the same software. The ‘problem’ DVD’s play.

Maybe its your drive then, try to clean it.

I already did. Thanks for trying, Chef. Will probably replace the drive.
