Burner stop working? Try this, it worked for me!

I have an nec 3500, and it has worked flawless for a very long time, then all of a sudden I was getting coasters (about 8 out of 10) would not finish the burn. Anyways, I got fed up trying to find a fix so I went ahead an ordered the 3550, and on the very 1st burn, it messed up… Thats too much of a coincidence I thought, so I off again to find a solution… I finally found it! I remember having problems right after installing pinnacle studio 10. I found out that it installs software to enable drag and drop burning. I disabled that, and I havent burned a coaster with either drive since (about 10 burns for each drive). This is what I did.

Right click on your dvd drive in explorer, then click properties. After that, you should see a tab named “settings”. In that tab I had Instantwrite settings, so, I unchecked every option on that tab, then rebooted, and I havent had a coaster since (fingers crossed).

I hope this helps others that were in my situation.

Thanks for reading,
Scott

Hi there,

I found out that it installs software to enable drag and drop burning.

Most software have Packet Writing ability:

Nero InCD
Roxio DirectCD
Sonic DLA (Direct Letter Access)

and most of the time, they will cause you headackes more than pleasure !

Good Job !
