I recently bought a new cd/rw writer for my PC, it stopped working and I got my money back. I then bought one off my friend as he was upgrading, it worked fine on his machine.
For the first 2 weeks it worked perfectly but now when I go into Stomp Recording software it tells me there are no compatible devices on my system to record to but in the device manager it says the drive is working properley.
However if I remove the drive from my device manager and unplug it from my system, then plug it back in it works fine. If I then burn a disk and close the recording program, when I open it up to do another my drive has vanished but it still says everything is ok in the device manager.
It is doing my head in now and need your help, I have tried diagnostic tools and cleanup tools and nothing fixes it.
Sometime my drive is there and sometimes its not.
When I boot up my system after removing the drive, the drive is installed and I do not get the " install new hardward " automatic message.
Can anyone solve my very annoying problem? Someone told me that Nero can cause drives to malfunction so I have deleted all Nero files and I am using Stomp RecordNow Max.
Somebody stop me going insane!!!!!!
