Burned a CD, found the file, can't open it

I created a Powerpoint presentation and saved it to a travel drive. I then used a different computer to burn the presentation to a CD. When I put in the disc, the .ppt file is there but the computer won’t open it even though Powerpoint is installed on the computer. I tried openning it on three different computers - same issue. I used a CD-R80. Do I have to use a CD-RW to be able to open it on different computers? Obviously, I’d like to know what I did wrong, but mostly I’d like any advice on producing a professional looking CD for distrubution to customers. I’m not sure a powerpoint presentation is right. I’d like to insert the CD and have it run automatically without having to open the file through powerpoint anyway. What do you suggest?
