Burn in safe mode (win xp)

I have nero v6.6.0.18 and since sometimes I have buffer problems (i have p4 2ghz) I would like to burn my data/audio in safe mode, to make sure only the essential programs are running in the background. is it possible to burn with nero in safe mode?
and what about a light burning program? could you maybe recommend?

safe mode, no dma, that sucks

Hi and welcome to the forum

You can use cd-dvd speed to burn image files; this is a standalone executable, and it’s very light. The only “limitation” of cd-dvd speed is that can burn only image files (ISO and NRG). Download latest version (free) from here

You can use also imgburn, but also it can burn only image files.

Before to burn in safe mode, I suggest you to do a little test: try to burn with cd-dvd speed setting its priority as “High” in preferences (see pic)

I think you can set the priority of any program once it’s running by using Task Manager. You can do it by using the “Processes” tab and right clicking the process you want to prioritize.

You can see the priority of the processes by clicking View > Select Columns > Base Priority.

Make sure your disk doesn’t need defragging.

You might speed up disk access by temporarily disabling your virus scanner. Mine seems to examine all data read from my disks, and in a disk intensive operation it will use considerable CPU time. I can disable mine by right clicking the icon in the system tray. I just have to remember to re-enable it later. Fortunately mine will re-enable itself after a re-boot and I seldom encounter a virus anyway.

By the way, take whatever I have to say with a grain of salt. I don’t have trouble burning so I don’t need to do any of this.

Micro20 very light and free, too.
