Burn Failure at 8X w/Nero 6.6.0.16

Hi Im new to this forum and Im hoping that you’s can help me. But I keep getting this “Burn process failed at 8x (11,080 KB/s)” error message w/ Nero 6.6.0.16 almost all the time now and it’s aggravating the (excuse the language) h@!! out of me. It seems to be happening at every other burn. And it usually always happens right around at 32-34% of the burn process (but not only at those percent, but thats usually where it happens). You can see the burners green flickering light just go “off” and then you can hear some clicking (that’s not that loud), that sounds like the disc stop spinning and is trying to spin up again (but this is just the impression im getting), but the HD light stays on (flickering, almost solidly on) the whole time. It only seems to happen mainly with my DVD’s not so much with my CD’s. Im using 8x DVD+R’s Taiyo Yuden. I hope that I’ve giving you’s enough information, and also I’ve uploaded my log file.

Welcome.

First, remove Nero serial’s from your .txt attachment.
Just post the relevant section of your log file please, removing the history of CD burns aso.

Edited.
I see you also have problems burning CD’s. Maybe you’ll get better answers in Samsung forum section.
PM a moderator if you like this topic moved.

Try 4X for a start! Go in and adjust your Nero settings for Memory usage inside of Nero!
Also! Have you ever had a good burn in the past, or just this one time occurrance?

This is what confuses me. These are IDE devices with DMA not enabled. I presume that this is because of problems with the NVidia drivers.

DiskPeripheral : WDC WD1200JB-00CRA1 nvatabus Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
DiskPeripheral : IC35L030AVV207-0 nvatabus Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552B nvatabus Port 0 ID 2 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-M1612 nvatabus Port 0 ID 3 DMA: Off

Would it be a case of uninstalling the Nvidia drivers & going to Standard Microsoft drivers?

Or more likely, InfoTool not able to report this status correctly.

Good suggestion. After installing standard M$ IDE drivers the DMA mode will show up correctly.

thanks i cant believe i did that

I’ve actually done that before (4X) and it still fails. And when you say “Go in and adjust your Nero settings for Memory usage inside of Nero!” do you mean the “data buffer size” in the “ultrabuffer” tab? And yes I use to always get good burns with the occassional bad burns, but now its like all the time and its annoying me, so “no” this is not just a “one time occurrance” :frowning:

I think that you may be right and Im planning on doing that. So I’ma reinstall the NV chipset drivers so I can get the original MS ones and also try wit h Nero 6.6.0.18. Also, Im also using Zone Alarm Pro 6.1.737.000 (but I shut it off most of the time and it still fails. And 12 processes running

Just to discount some things. I run ZoneAlarm Pro all the time & I burn successfully with 40+ processes running so neither of these are an issue.

ok, i figured, because i used to be able to burn with a bunch of things running too without a problem either, but now, i just dont know, ugh!

Yeah it looks like the “DMA Off” is due to the NV IDE drivers, cuz when I uninstalled them and reverted back to the MS ones, it now says “DMA On”.

I get the same type errors with 6.6.0.18. definitely worse than a version years ago. There is a bug in that you can only add to an existing session ONCE no matter what. I always choose do not close to allow later files to be added but still it only lets you do it once. The next time I get the same type error you got. I have
BENQ DVD DC DQ60, DMA is ON but think that is irrelevant. Problem is with NERO software!!

Use the m$ IDE drivers instead of the nVidia/nForce ones!

I haven’t had any problem to burn multisession DVD+R’s with any 6.6.x.x Nero version.
You have to have XP and no other pocket writing programs installed.
Yes, some old DVD-ROM’s might have problem reading multisession discs, but that’s not Neros fault.

Attaching pictures of a disc with three multisession burns with Nero 6.6.0.18. :flower:
