This above error is really pissing me off … I have burnt roughly 200 dvds burn error free using magic iso to open an img file then extracting the video and audio ts folders and running dvd shrink to burn with nero 6 and 7 and now i get this error out of the blue and can not burn 1 damn dvd , yet i can burn a dvd if i uninstall and reinstall my aspi drivers / uninstall and reinstall nero then i burn 1 dvd then the rest are coasters , and if i reformat i can burn roughly 20 dvds b4 it gets this gay error / no seek complete, my harware is fine it aint the firmware its a lite on 1300 A dvd burner in a kick ass amd 64 machine with a terabyte of hd space mostly used up but anyways it isnt my processes have a tone of free memory, Can somebody please help me I am so friggen mad

Looks like (from the 2.4x burn speed and the [Key_MEDIUM_ERROR] that the burner’s current firmware has no support for the media you’re trying to burn.

It’s an older NEC burner…can you please post the brand and rated speed of the media?

Also, edit out your serial number so it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

Hopefully someone will have some ideas regarding NEC firmware for that drive.

Thanks buddy umm the serial number for that version of nero was a freebie so no worries but i will edit it out … DVD + R Verbatim up to 16x write and maxell dvd +R up to 16 times as well … and i do have the newest firmware which ends in a c 1.0c or something… but these are the same dvds ive been burning on for along time and ummm i was going to recall the revision of the firmare under divice manager and i cannot recall the firmware inface all i can recall is DEVICE INSTANCES ID : IDE/CDROM_NEC_DVD_RW_ND_1300A__________________________1.0C______5&%CAOCCE&0&0.0.0 so seeing that my firmware is 1.0c im guessing and i can recall some other info as well but i have my dvd writer and my cd writer both installed on the same cable dvd being my primary … but its been fine for ages why all the sudden ? like i said a reformat will cure it for maybe 20 dvds and then stuck again i even ghosted an image i guess i could try that last ghost image didnt work but i havent tried this on and ive made a restore point after i have installed everything back up to order and after i burnt my first working dvd and that doesnt seem to fix the problem ever and who wants to reformat after every 20 dvds not I lmao

that was key generated cough anyways if you need a key merry xmas oh and its 2.4 X only becuse i tried to turn down from 4 x to try to correct the problem… thanx guys for trying to help ill try anything again and again i guess … its a head scratcher

Thanks Arachne, Done.

Also, edit out your serial number so it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

Owners of the old ND1100/1300 range are finding it increasingly difficult to get media that will successfully burn on these. You’re using the latest available firmware so no chance of an update helping there I’m afraid.

Your best option is either get a new burner or use older 4x & 8x media as 16x media is most likely to fail.

It seems a shame that with a high spec PC that you’ve not invested in a modern burner.

Tim C , thanks for calling me a cheap ass in not investing into a newer burner in the politest way possible. Maybe we missed a spot in the original post … ive burnt 300 consecutive dvds with the same damn media all (up to16 x). I can still burn a flawless dvd by uninstalling and reinstalling my aspi drivers and uninstalling and reinstalling nero,(but i dont want to have to do this for every dvd) BUT BY DOING THIS I HAVE BURNT 5 DVDS IN A ROW therefore it aint the media bud<-- and burn 20 + dvds after a complete format therefor, you telling me that my burner cannot perform sexual favours on this type of media is ummmmm crap? thanx for the post<> im going to buy a new dvd burner anyways now that i read your post to my wife at least she can believe something like that , so i guess thanx timmyC for the new excuse, just wish you would have read the first post so then i didnt have to make you look so ummm brilliant… Stick to farming or whatever you do best, cuz reading and acknowalging ain’t your cup of whisky  have a merry x mas and may your stockings be filled with the right media

oh and i seen my spelling errors but i also typed all that crap in a minute or 2 so grin and bare it; spelling aint my cup of anything at 80 + words a minute and grammer and what have ya is not necessary trying to get my dvd burner working again , but like i said it sure is a head scratcher . stated to avoid further humiliation not intended for just timmy but anyone who begs to start something … All i want is to be able to burn my dvds and if we cant figure out the problem then ill just buy a new burner no problem. but Merry Christmas to All And happy New Years …Smoke a blunt 4 me PEACE

one guy told me to switch arrround my jumpers and reverse it to my secondary lol didnt have to for my previous 300 shouldnt have to now … im reading and researching at the same time not getting to far has anyone else who reads this encounter anything such as this?

Of course I read your posts carefully as I always do.

I was just pointing out some general facts about older burners and the lack of firmware support for new media.

I do notice that the Nero log is not showing it’s own ASPI layer which is quite unusual as that is what I’d expect it to use rather than the system aspi.

You might like to try ImgBurn which by default uses SPTI rather than aspi as aspi might be your problem.

Likewise Nero 6.6.1.4 also uses SPTI.

Also I see you have a Samsung HDD. What DMA mode does this run in as these drives are shipped set to UDMA mode 5 , rather that mode 6. You need a Samsung utility to change this & it’s obviously worthwhile to get the faster transfer rate.

tim c thanks for not replying in a rude manner and thanks again for the advice i will look into it , have a happy new year

well i tried imgburn and no success but i get a diff error one sec i will type it out

ok all aside im going to buy a new dvd can you give me a suggestion that i will be happy with? plextor 760 A maybe?

I’ve got a Pioneer 111 , several Benq 1650s & I’m well pleased with these. I don’t believe Plextors are worth the extra.

The new Samsungs seem to be well liked as do the LGs & new Liteon LH range. Truthfuly there are many bad burners out there now.

And a happy christmas & new year to you too.
