Subject: FW: New PROBLEM with 5.5.10.15b - old RE: Destination drive ERROR in v5.5.10.0

OK Folks, so much for the last lot of problems.
These we fixed - i.e. 5.5.10.0 fixed with 5.5.10.7b

NOW WE GET TO UPDATING with 5.5.10.15 – $#@!~^%$#@*
Just refuses to do so.
Then Un-installing and using CleanTool - then re-installing, JUST WILL NOT IN WINDOWS 98se
Have tried Safe Mode install etc.
Nothing works - prevents other TSR’s from loading and freezes system.

Any Ideas please

More on this issue.

Un-installed 5.5.10.15 and re-installed 5.5.10.7b which workes and installed without a problem.

This indicates that there is nothing wrong with my system and it therefor must be the new 5.5.10.15 drivers and or installation files.

REPLY FROM NERO

Dear customer,

Apparently there is a bug in the program. In the meantime, please stay with the old version Nero until Our Engineers can resolve this issue.

Regards,

Have you tried Nero Burning ROM 5.5.10.15a?

Have noticed that nero site has changed back to Nero551015a.exe. Now the question is, “What prompted the release of Nero 551015b” i.e "What was wrong with “a” Think about the logic !!!

No I have not tried 551015a = AND I DON’T THINK I WILL - I WILL WAIT FOR THE NEXT AFTER “B”

“We have replaced the web version 5.5.10.15 with version 5.5.10.15a due to a problem with one driver.
If you have downloaded the web version 5.5.10.15 before and you are using Windows 95, 98 or ME, please download this file (nerocd95.zip) and extract it to Windows Installation Folder\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS.
We apologize for the inconvenience”

Another 14 MB download on a 56K dialup all for one lousy problem with a single driver. Oh well!

I downloaded 551015 and installed it yesterday and I downloaded 551015a today on installed it over 551015. I have been burning with both for two days without a problem. I have never seen 551015b that you speak of, not even on http://www.dawnload.net

I downloaded the new version (about an hour ago) and got the “b” version. They must have found another bug and had to plug it.

#8

I am not in the habit of making mistakes.

The “b” version was downloaded from the nero web site.
Now we say it’s back ???
So what is the correct current version that works ???

Bug in that version apparently only affects win95, 98 and ME systems. Of course, it’s a doozie of a bug with those. :frowning:

What’s this? A new day a new Nero version?

Regards,

#14

v 5.5.10.15a seems to have fixed the bug. Not that I’ve burned anything with it mind you but at least after installing it my other apps still work.

#15

Where can I download older Nero versions? Like 5.5.10.7b, etc?
Thanks

#16

ftp://ftp.nero.com/Nero55107b.exe

#17

Hrmm, doesn’t seem to be there…
Thanks

#18

Well, booting into safe mode and installing the fixit file (nerocd95.zip) seemed to recover my old Win98 box. After installing 551015 my system would freeze on bootup. The fixit file fixed it. However, the damn Win registry is screwed up a bit. How the hell do you fix that? Norton’s system doctor has repaired a few problems, but it won’t let me optimize the registry because an “enumerator” or some such is missing. WTF??
