Buffer Underrun CD vs DVD

I may be talking with ignorance here.
Nero 6.6.0.16

I start a CD-ISO on my Lite on or my NEC 2500A , ND-6650 on the BURN tab it gives me option for Smart-BURN(LT)and Buffer-underrun(NEC) right next to the No. Copies.
but when I do a DVD-ROM ISO this option is gone

do DVD burns have Buffer Underrun protection? I have had problems with errors while burning DVD and to get successful burns I must not touch my comp.

thanks

I use DVD Decrypter to burn images anyway , might switch to the new Imgburn (from the author of DVD Decrypter) that’s on the forum news.

You should automatically have buffer underrun protection regardless of what you’re burning & unless you’ve got a slow system you should be able to do other things providing they are not I/O intensive.

Try a different burning app for your images.

thanks for your response. I am mainly burning Data DVD’s not video. I have been using Nero without any problems, maybe I never noticed that option to check mark for a DVD. the other weird thing is that in the Status screen when Nero starts buring , I recall for a CD it said Buffer Underrun protection activated or something like that, but does not do it for a DVD rom data burn.

any other insights be helpful.

From other posts for HP DVD write I see this that the burncd.cpp turns on buffer underrun protection.
