Buffer problem?

Good night.

I have a Plextor PX-760A.

It records the DVD/Cds well, but it has a problem: the buffer level, when I record a DVD is instable (between the 70 and 100 %). It’s normal?

With the old drive (Plextor PX 716), the buffer level was always at 98%.

I verified the following aspects:

  • Firmware of the Plextor (v1.05)

  • the recorder isn’t in PIO Mode, is in Ultra DMA Mode 2.

  • I format the PC on the last week, and one of the first things that I installed were the Nero and the result was similar

  • I changed the IDE cable and gives the same thing.

  • I placed the recorder to master and slave and the result is the same…

The spetifications of the computer are:

  • LC Power 550W PFC 120mm

  • Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe

  • Western Digital 160 Gb Sata II (para o SO)

  • Maxtor 200 Gb IDE133 para dados

  • DVD-ROM LG 16x/48x Black

  • Plextor PX-760A

  • TWINMOS 2x 1GB PC3200 with Revoltec Freezers

  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ TOLEDO

  • Asus 7900GT 256MB DDR3

Sorry for the English…

Apparently newer FW versions seem to cause some buffer fluctuations. It’s purely cosmetic. You’ll find some more info here:

Tks.

No i have the v1.04 and the buffer is between 93 ans 97%…

Plextor has to do a better firmware…
