I’ve got a BTC DVD-ROM manufactured FEB 2002 NITB never used. Model BDV 316C. BTC are supposed to be great readers.
My question is could this thing be an excellent scanner producing trustworthy results with Nero CD-DVD speed, like a Lite-On for example?
DVD-ROM drives are usually not good for disc quality scanning. If you have no other drive, capable of DQ-scanning then you are maybe able to use it for your own purposes. But consider that the results are not comparable to the results given by other DVD burners.
At least you will probably be able to figure out if the disc is good or bad and the transfer rate test and scan disc in Nero CD/DVD Speed should give you additonal information about quality.
