(Dynex) BTC-1108IM
(HP) Lite-On SOHW-832S

Hi guys,

Dual-Layer burning is not an issue.
Out of these two, which would you choose and why?

I have an ND-2500A already and it’s awesome so far with RecordNow MAX.

What you have is better than your choices for a new drive.

true, but i wanted a 2nd optical drive and i’ve had all three of them already (no more simultaneous burning for me!) maybe i should just look for a good 16x DVD-ROM… I have a Lite-On LTC48161H but it’s in my other rig. dunno how good that is…but it’s loud!

If you want a no-fuss, good writer - NEITHER, an NEC3500, 3520 or whatever, if you’re happy with the NEC in general.

Of the two you suggest though, a Codeguys-assisted 832 is probably a better bet than a BTC.

More to the point, if there are holes in the NEC’s performance that need to be covered, make sure the other drive DOES cover them.

I would recommend a Benq 1620. With the speedhack, it will rip dual layer pressed DVDs faster than any other drive on the market. Furthermore, it will run quality scans (with CDSpeed). In addition, it is a VERY good burner.

Keep away from BTC if you want it for burning dvds.

thanks a lot for the help, guys. I think I’ll be giving away the BTC.
