BTC 1004 problems

CD, DVD and (Ultra HD) Blu-ray Writers

Hi all,

I have the other thread about this Burner and I’m a little bit concerned about this burner. I have bought this one also two weeks ago and I thrown away a lot of empty DVD’s.

I have tried:

  • Princo 1x DVD-R
  • Verbatim DVD+R 4x
  • Datawrite DVD-R 4x

When I burn movies to the disks the data is not correctly written. I used Nero 6.0.0.19 as software and a movie.

  • Princo 1x DVD-R successfull, but my DVD reader doesn’t recognise it
  • Verbatim, 1 of the 21 files failed to verify
  • Datawrite, 7 of the 21`files failed

I am using firmware 043. Windows XP. I also used Stomp once to burn a DVD but it failed also (verification).

I hope somebody over here has some good tips. Else I have to go back to my supplier and try to replace it with another one (will be a NEC).

Martijn,

Before you decide to go back and get another brand drive, I’d like to take the opportunity to find out why you have these problems.

As I have pointed out in another thread on this site, when discussing problems, please use MID codes of the media instead of brand names.

Also, make sure to use the latest firmware, which can be found at
http://www.btceurope.nl/english/3-1-4driver_download_dvd_dual.htm

Because media compatibility is an important issue with DVD writers, please refer to our website’s media compatibility list for reference:

Regarding the “verify failed” issue, please check those discs with Nero’s CD speed - Extra - Scandisc - File test instead. It happens often that a “verify failed” disc actually is errorless when you check it with the scandisc utility.

And last but not least, you write that “my DVD reader doesn’t recognize it”. Do you mean the DRW1004 or your home DVD player or a DVD-ROM drive that is also in your system ?

Can you give me more details about this ? (brand, model name, firmware version, etc.) ?

Hi Marco,

I also mailed, but maybe this is a better way so everybody can learn from my mistakes :slight_smile:

The firmware is the burner is 043, using nero 5.5.10.33 (bundled with your burner).

My standalone player is a Kiss DP-500 (http://www.divxspeler.nl/N_frame.html) a DVD player with DIVX decoder in it :slight_smile:

I tested a cd (datawrite) with the scandisk tool from nero and it failed also :frowning:

About the standalone player, I tested the successfull cd’s on my KISS player and on a Pioneer DVD player and they both didn’t accept them.

I live in Holland, please give me a name of a shop were I can order good dvd-r of dvd+r dvd’s :slight_smile:

After updating to V0045, can you post your experiences on the MEDIA COMPATIBILITY: GOOD RESULTS and -BAD RESULTS threads according to the format used there ?
