[qanda]This thread is about the Lite-On DH-20A4P. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Okay my last optical drive died a few days ago so I got a replacement today. A LiteOn DH-20A4P (just a normal, cheap IDE DVD writer).
Now comes my problem, I am getting terrible read speeds. To give an idea I just ripped one CD of data with imgburn, here are my statistics for the burn:
Average Read Rate: 311 KB/s (1.8x) - Maximum Read Rate: 1,410 KB/s (8.2x)
It took over 40 minutes to do 680 MB of data.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I have already checked that all IDE channels are set to DMA. I have also tried ripping with it both as a master and a slave (forgot to change it initially) with no difference.
The IDE cable should be fine since my last drive was getting expected speeds up until it died a few days ago.
