I'm still confused why nobody has come up with sort of an open source alternative to the 13 root computers. I mean a web address is just an IP that is linked with a symbolic name on a computer. Your browser connects to this computer to get the IP number of a certain website and then links to that IP right? Why hasn't anyone taken an open source browser an added features for a different type of domain system that isn't control by morons. Then just set a server where people could register IPs for free and the web browser could be directed towards the open source internet servers instead of the regular ones. It wouldn't be long before people go woah. Why do I want a www.com domain when these domains are free, and then the next thing you know, you'll have enough customers to start your own business, and you don't have all these legal hooplah. Especially if you add encryption features if need be.
