Blue screen and restart

vbimport

I have been getting random periods where i get a quick flash of a blue screen error message then the PC reboots and don’t know why this is happening. My PC is new!!!

Could it be bad RAM?

Hi. Might help if you turn off auto-reboot when there’s a Windows error, so you can jot down what the BSOD says.

  1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

  2. Click the Advanced tab.

  3. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.

  4. Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.

  5. Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

If you get a blue screen after that, post what it says here (including any STOP error code).

ok thanks. just ran memtest and found that one of my ram sticks was full of errors. that was in system when got it

You can also get the error message from the administrative tools options. What OS are you running?

#5

Win XP sp2

Control panel, admin tools, event viewer. It should have left a error report right before it BSOD’d and restarted.

You can change the file extension to .txt and post it here and someone who can read it can change it back to the native extension to decrypt it.

Going by those error codes its memory most likely.

well i’m guessing it is memory seeing as i stated earlier that i ran memtest and found one of the sticks to have errors all the way through it

You have to install the drivers from the manufacturers website, they should have a support section.

Elena80, please next time start a new thread instead of posting in an old one

And welcome to club.myce
