Blindwrite 5 doesn't work right!

Hi everybody,

I’ve tested Blindwrite 5 and it doesn’t work right. I have found some strange problems (screenshot included)

My both CD-drives (Pioneer DVD-106S and Plextor PX-W1210S) work both right with reading CDs and the Plextor is able to burn CDs using Nero, WinOnCd and the old Blindwrite.

With Blindwrite 5 however there are lots of bugs.

Here is how I tested my problem:

  • Insert Data CD (with files) into the Plextor burner
  • Open Explorer to check if the CD is ok
  • The CD can be read and I can see all files --> CD OK
  • I open Blindwrite 5
  • I chosse the Plextor drive as Read Source
  • I want to read the CD and then the error occurs
  • I don’t understand the error? Media is changed??? I didn’t do anything an then this error occurs… hmm… btw - this error happens with ALL CDs in this Plextor burner
  • The Plextor burner is OK and works with Blindwrite 4 - so it’s a problem of Blindwrite 5!!!
  • Look at the screenshot

OK now here comes the funny thing: The CD seems to be read right using the Pioneer drive. But I want to read CDs with the Plextor drive because it can read CDs better…

So any ideas??

PS: There’s definitley a new comic to come about this topic!!

Screenshot:

Ive gotten this same error before…it was hit or miss depending on the title i was backing up in my ASUS 5224A. Updating my firmware fixed the problem but it was my asus drive and i did not want to update my firmware.

I dont get it now for some reason…only other thing i changed was to upgrade to 113 and upgraded my nforce2 drivers (motherboard) to 2.45 from nvidia if you dont have a nforce2 board thats not you problem. disabling autoinsert notification may fix it as well i didnt play with it too much. Also im assuming you rebooted after you got that error (could be a memory issue too).

On a side note doesnt it sound like the lady says
“Houston we have a problem!” instead of “Damn, we have a problem” first copy program i ever had that swore at me:p

“Garfield why did you throw that computer out the window?”
“The B*tch swore at me!”

why arent you using patin-couffin?
what motherboard do you have?

good catch that may have been my problem…after reinstalling 113 i think i got the coufin drivers back. you can also install the caufin drivers by themselves from vso.

Hi there,

I’m only using the Patin-couffin driver. When I try the

Startmenu - All Programs - Blindwrite - Drivers - Check

Then the only driver listed is the:

“Patin-Couffin-Driver”…

It is a GigaByte S370 Mainboard with Intel-chipset 815E

Nice weekend to everybody! [/B]

somehow bw is not using the driver for that drive…you need to configure that drive to work with that driver. i would try a uninstall reinstall…make sure you reboot after the reinstall. it should say in your log using patin-coufin driver 1.15 or something like that not aspi.

if you note your log says its using aspi drivers which are a nono for blindwrite.

Hey everybody,

I gonna try a complete UNINSTALL…

Seems like Blindwrite 5 is using the old ASPI-Driver of my old Blindwrite 4 … no that’s not nice!!

BTW - why is there ONLY Patin-couffin access for Blindwrite 5? No ASPI?

And I will publish the results next week OK?

Alex “Rylex”

the patin-couffin you should have is 1.16
i had the same problem with patin-couffin that came with bw 4.5.7. for me it didnt help to reinstall, but try and see how it goes
i would like to help, but it think i destroyd me bw.exe file (i lost the reading capabilities) so i’ll have to install it again, thats why i’ll respond a little later.

yes it should say version 1.16. i didnt think you could have version 4 and version 5 on the same computer…strange i would think it would get confused on what driver to use.

@genhai
no its HCR (HardCoreRuleset) hcm was a side project that someone did and never completed.

Rylex,

well I could not see how long but sometimes I have ran into problems with blindwrite 4 on the drive with blindwrite 5. I unistalled all then installed 5 first and then installed 4 back. Also when you post back up can you post full log ? it would help but so far yes I agree with the rest of the fine people that replied to you .

gio

just one question Rylex,
the language is German,right?
then how come everything is English?
just asking if i may.

Whats with the format B5I:a ? Why did they change it from BWI to B5I? DAEMON tools and my other programs can’t detect image because of the stupid format B5I

There is a plugin for Daemon Tools in this thread that will allow you to mount .B5I images.

@t111645 - I know my system language is German but I changed the language to English - so it’s easier to understand for the CDFreaks-Forum

I uninstalled the old Blindwrite and Blindwrite 5 is using the 1.16 patin-couffin driver now… but it still doesn’t work!!!

If you take a look at the screenshot I included above… it’s strange that the program doesn’t show the disk size! There are only some strange characters displayed: (, 0 b.) is only displayed under the Read-Source selection…

I will try to reinstall Blindwrite 5 although I doubt that this will work :frowning:

Any new ideas?

Can you please post a full verison of your log file? It will be better at understanding what is going on and what errors you are getting.

gio

Here’s the log-file…
Please notice that at the end of the file I was using the old ASPI-driver… but at the top the patin-couffin driver is used and that should work, shouldn’t it? Well… it still doesn’t work :frowning:

Okay just to make sure your drive is the plextor that is scsi correct? if I remember it is. Also I see it dies in the extaction. Do you still have blindwrite version 4 installed ? Also do u have anitivirus running when burning? Also may I ask what chipset you have for your motherboard ? Thanks.

Gio

Hi again,

yes the Plextor drive is a SCSI CD-Writer. And it fails when starting the extraction. The drive works fine otherwise like I mentioned before!

  • Blindwrite 4 is uninstalled!
  • McAfee VirusScan 7 is installed (On-Access-Scan running)
  • GigaByte Socket 370 Mainboard with Intel 815E Chipset

Like I said: The Pioneer DVD-106s works ok in this PC but the Plextor not… :frowning:

Curious can you disable antivirus and then try to burn again ? also did you install intels application accelerator

gio

Disabled VirusScan --> Still doesn’t work!

Intel Application Accelerator is installed

But that shouldn’t matter because the Pioneer DVD-ROM in the same PC works without problems!

Sorry but this PC is my PC at work, so I can’t do everything with it - hope you understand… just wanted to test BW5 and it seems like it doesn’t work for me :frowning:
