Blank DVD+R's

I am looking to buy some DVDs for archiving which will have very occasional use.

Most people seem to recommend Taiyo Yuden & Verbatim.

What are the difference between these 3 packs of discs besides write speed (I am not concerned about speed)

I think the pictures are generic as the information listed for all state “full face printable” which is what I’m after.

Many thanks

I’m not quite sure what the difference between the first and the third, as they are both identical, but one is listed as duplication grade, so this could be equivalent to the ‘TY Value Line’ series that can be of lesser quality (hence the lower price).

I’d go for the 8x variety (2nd link) as the 8x’s generally burn and scan better, and have been known to have more consistent results. They are also more compatible with older burners.

Thanks, I think I’ll go with the ones you recommended.

I also need some labelled discs as well as printable ones but I can’t seem to find any TY ones.

Are Verbatim AZO labelled discs still pretty good?

Yeah Verbatim Azo discs are second best IMO - anything Verbatim in my books is quality

Branded TY’s can only be found under the ‘Thats’ brand, and generally only available in Japan, or some Verbatim’s in Europe. If you see a tub of Verbatims that are Made In Japan, they will be TY’s

So our only choices for TY’s are the printable or the shiny silver top versions.

I’d also recommend Verb’s for normal discs. I’ve been out on a Verbatim hunt today, but have failed my quest.

I’m guessing you are in the UK, if so, Staples (if you have one near you) currently have the Verbatim 50pk + or - on BOGOF so effectively £12.99/100. Better than you will find online :iagree:
