Sorry I don’t have the possibility to test media as I don’t use Windows (Ubuntu).
I recently started burning a batch of blank DVD+R 16x TH000039 bought from a trusted seller. I always buy my Taiyo Yuden:s from there and there has never been a problem. I have never seen such stable discs in my whole life (almost no vibration at all). They don’t look fake at all.
Almost all are failing verification in Nerolinux. Some are making it through but it is rare. It doesn’t matter if I burn them in 4x or 20x. They are failing none the less. I have been troubleshooting a lot. I’ve “downgraded” from eSATA to firewire400 as my new drive has serious problems with eSATA but the top buffer is stable. I upgraded my both DVR215DBK to 1.22 from 1.18 but it did not make a difference. md5sum is failing as well with an input/output error. I thought it was a laser or kernel problem but it doesn’t seem so. Most information I’ve gathered is speaking against the discs but I cannot be 100% sure so I have to ask you for help before I contact the reseller.
I have another batch of these discs with another number TH000903 and they are not failing just like my Verbatim DVD+R DL 8x and Verbatim DVD+RW 4x.
I had a problem with a seller some years ago where a whole 10 piece cake of Verbatim DVD+RW 4x discs were failing much worse than these Taiyo Yuden:s. My other discs were not failing burn and verification but the seller said they were all fine even though I tested the Verbatim 4x DVD+RW discs in many different burners and computers but they were still failing. I was left without discs as the seller wanted to charge me for shipping them back so I lost the 10 piece cake :/.
I just don’t want to make that “mistake” again.
