Why is it only + media booktype can be changed?

As I understand it, -R bitsetting in the Nu isn't really bitsetting, but rather an unorthodox hack that tries to fool a reading device (and IIRC, it has been said that not all devices are fooled by this) into thinking that it's bitset. True -R bitsetting is impossible as the booktype bits burned into the disc when they are manufactured and thus cannot be changed.
