Bit setting - it's not just the book type

I’ve come across a DVD-ROM drive in an IBM laptop that will only read DVD+R media if both the book type (Disk Category) is set to DVD-ROM (0) and the Disk Structure is set to 1 (Read-only). I’ve tried bit setting using both DVD Decrypter [] and CD-DVD Speed [4.01] on twelve different makes/models of DVD+R recorders and have only been successful in achieving the desired combination of bit settings on two Lite-On drives.

Does Nero effect the Disk Structure byte when its used to do bit setting?

If you (re)encode files, there is an option for bit setting.
