Although i have years using computers, i'm still a newbie in this CD-recording stuff. Last week i got a new burner, a "generic" 48X12X50 CD-RW (firmware 1.02) with Nero 6 (quickly updated to 184.108.40.206). This thing has no signs of any brand... but it is good burning CD-Rs.
I've used some CD-Rs (blank and open discs burned with a Iomega external drive, from diverse brands, from Imation to "Global Data"), and i had no problems with these. However, with CD-RWs, the story is different...
I purchased 2 blank HP 12X 700MB CD-RWs. I thinked "HP discs should be good", but when i try to burn these, i got errors!
-They refuse to burn at 12X
-At 4X sometimes i got errors when burning.
-I got best results when burning at 10X, but still i get discs with errors.
-Disc erasing takes too long, and sometimes, it never ends, so i need tor reboot my PC to eject the disc.
-InCD fails when i attempt to format the disc for packet writing (anyone knows how to regulate InCD speed?)
-Drive sometimes takes a long time (almost 1 minute) to recognize these discs after burning.
The only disc that i burned OK with these HP CDs was a Linux live CD (Damn Small Linux, a <50MB Knoppix-based), and sometimes i got reading problems, or even major errors when running it!
Here is the more data about the discs:

My PC is a Celeron 700 with 128Mb of RAM, a crappy PCCHIPS M755 motherboard with a SiS630 chipset and onboard SiS 630 video.
Any advice? My burner is not suitable for CD-RW? HP (CMC Magnetics) discs are crap? (these discs are VERY EXPENSIVE on my country).
I know that i should use HQ media like Imation or Verbatim, but these are a bit hard to find in my country (Venezuela)...
