Lawsuit over cancellation of fall turkey season is moved from Phillips to Pulaski County

WYNNE, Ark. (AP) — A lawsuit challenging the cancellation of Arkansas’ fall turkey hunting season is being transferred from Phillips to Pulaski County.

David Clark of Conway filed the lawsuit alleging the state Game and Fish Commission was arbitrary and capricious when it voted 4-3 last week to cancel the fall hunt. It also says hunters were not given sufficient opportunity to raise their concerns.

It asks for an emergency order reinstating the season.

At a hearing Thursday in Wynne a judge agreed with attorneys for the commission who said the case should’ve been filed in Pulaski County where lawsuits against state agencies are generally heard.

Clark’s attorney — David Carruth — said he’ll refile the lawsuit Friday in Pulaski County and ask for a hearing as soon as possible.

Is there a lawyer who will stand up for the turkeys in this lawsuit? Oh wait the state will do that. We are a bunch of turkeys in Arkansas.

What was the justification for canceling the season?

Did the turkeys manage to put a mole inside the Game and Fish Commission?

We have had a wet wet wet summer one like I have never seen and with the rain and all the numbers are way down and they want to let the number grow again. Some people would kill the last one just like they did years ago and then game and fish would have to get wild turkeys from another state and start all over again

Sounds like they are shooting the wrong Turkeys.

This is really uncharacteristic of most hunters as they are usually very proactive for game management to keep the numbers high. A good example of this is the duck hunters.
