Big problem with philips 1640P dvdr

I have a big rpoblem with my dvdr…its seam is only reading burned cd’s and dvd’s but is not reading blanks cd’s and dvd’s i tryed reading about the problem on net but it seams nobody has ever had it…

how is it supposed to read blank CD/DVD’s?

my dvdr doesnt write or read them… cd’s or dvd at all i thought is from nero i tryed to formated my pc i thought that was an problem but nothing i still cant use my dvdr to make an cd with movie or anything else sometimes it reads some burned cd;s with stuff on them sometimes don’t i heard that is an strange thing and i really don;t know what to do if someone can help me …

Sorry but I don’t understand. Haw can a burner read a blank media? A blank media don’t have nothing so a drive cannot read nothing in any way.

Can you explain better your problem? Are you saying that you have problem to burn a blank media?

ok i will explain better …i have an dvdr combo and doesnt do anything i cant burn an cd or dvd and nothing he doesnt even see the cd/dvd when i insert it inside…i putt an cd with an game inside and he doesnt see it …i hope u guys can help me

Try to download Infotool. Don’t worry, it’s free and don’t require installation.

After infotool finished, post the log file. Maybe this can help someone to find a solution

Try to swap drives putting the philips as MASTER on secondary channel alone.

After testing, try to put also CD burner as SLAVE.

I suggest you to use 80 wire IDE cables. Check also to connect correctly drives on IDE cable, i.e. master drive on the external connnector and slave on the intermediate connector.

Can you try to install this burner on another computer? If this don’t solve the problem, maybe the drive is damaged, so if it is in warranty you chould return to the store.

If on another computer the drive work correctly, then the problem is somewhere in your computer.
