hello guys!!

As I said,I have a big problem with my LG GSA 4082b DVD-writer! I bought this almost an year ago but my problems started just recently. I use a Nero6 version. The problem is that I can’t burn image files from my computer. When i try to do so it fails with this message: "write error! could not complete “disc-at-once”! i found a related thread about this problem on this site but there were no answers to that guy’s problem. if someone could help me I would really appreciate it guys! thanx a lot!

PS: i was wondering if my problem is firmware related? do u think I should update my firmware?
PS2: excuse my poor english!

Hi junnkie, welcome to CDF

This could be due to a few things, but first, what media are you using? Did the problem start when you switched to a new disc brand?

#3

hello Arachne! i forgot to tell you that no matter what media I’m using the problem remains the same “could not complete disc-at-once”. I tried the following media: Traxdata -R,TDK -R, Datawrite -R, Samsung Pleomax & many others. It worked very fine on Traxdata but now,as i told u, i can’t seem to burn ANY tipe of media!! :frowning:

#4

actual firmware version is 1.0c

#5

Before we go doing firmware updates, can you post a Nero error log, so we can see what the exact error is? Apart from the TDK, those media brands don’t seem very good.

Also, do you have the latest version of Nero 6?

#6

I use Nero 6.6.1.4. I don’t know exactly if it is the latest version. I attached an error log as you requested.

Thanks very much, that’s a lot of useful info!

Firstly, your current firmware is A204.

(KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)

And the error above makes me think that it could be a media problem.

A firmware update may help (the latest version is A208 - found on the LG site. It won’t let me right click and send you the link), but I’d try some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs too

#8

ok thanks a lot for your time Arachne! I will proceed with the firmware update & see what happens, and then I’ll let u know.

#9

Ok…i’ve updated to version A208 and…still the same problem…with all the media & the same error! any suugestions 'cuz i think i’m gona loose it…

#10

Only thing I can think of now is to try better media (Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim)…

Even if it doesn’t work in your current drive, you can use it in any new drive you buy, so you have nothing to lose by trying better stuff

#11

Yes, this burner also likes to be feed with good quality media. No exception.

#12

:iagree: - that’s true of most LG drives that I’ve come across.

#13

I’d recommend downdating Nero to 6.6.0.18 from 6.6.1.4 immediately.

Why?

Your PC has very little memory (127mb) & the memory requirements for 6.6.1.4 are over twice what you have, ie 280mb.

It might not cure the problem but it’s got to be worth a try.

ok TimC thanx for the useful advice!!
