Ritek G05 costs close to 40 cents each, which is not what I call cheap media. MUST001 for 19 cents each is what I call cheap media.
With that said, I have a spindle of 50 Ritek G05, and they do not burn well in my Liteon1213@1633 (BYX2 firmware), nor in my Benq 1620, nor in my Nec 2500 or my Nec 3500. All of the above burnt at 8x. They do, however, burn very nicely in my Pioneer 108, and at 12x! This just goes to show that you need to match the media to the drive. I have one batch of RICOHJPNR01 which burn very nicely at 8x in my 1213@1633, and another batch which gets a mountain at the end. The 2nd batch (the one with the mountain effect at the end on the Liteon), burns perfectly at 8x in my Benq 1620.
If you own a lot of different drives, and a lot of different media, you soon start keeping notes!
