Best Programs?

Hi to you all!

I am new to this and have created my first backup copy using AnyCD & CloneCd, it worked well. Well chuffed.

Whats the best program you would recommened for Dvd backups tried using Dvd x copy with no sucess, ruined a few discs, My Dvd writer is a Pioneer dual - & + whats the difference?

Stick with what you are using if it works for you although its clonedvd and anydvd ..
I sometimes also use dvd decryptor\dvd2one and recordnow or nero to burn. but try a few and see how you get on
What errors did you get with dvdxcopy (were they read errors) or what.............

I am just trying to avoid wrecking to many dvd-r disks!!!

DVD Shrink works very well for me for backing up movies. Just make sure it compresses the output to within the capacity of a 4.7GB DVD. I use Nero to burn the output from DVD-Shink afterwards. Just be sure to stick DVD-Shrink's output in the VIDEO_TS folder in Nero.

DVD-X-Copy is suppose to be a DVD backup package as well, but it seems rather strange that it is ruining DVD-R's on you. Then again, I have not tried it so far.

From what I recall, Clone DVD is suppose to be used for making identical copies of data DVD's; like its predecessor Clone CD. I don't think it can make copies of CSS protected DVD movies or even recompress dual-layer discs down to DVD+/-R size.

If you can get DVD recordables handy, it may be worth getting some rewritable discs as well. They generally have similar compatibility as with the single write 'R' discs, but you can erase them at a later stage. Even you you don't use them for storing movies, they do an excellent job for backing up several Gig of data

Cheers, i will try these programs.

Clone cd does actually give you a choice of what you want to copy, whether its the complete dvd or just the movie files, subtitles etc. and it shrinks it. I found it was great!! i did have to run anycd to remove the macro and the other protection though, but that runs in the background doing its stuff while you use clonedvd. -

But i am new to all this, so i am listening to you more experienced users.
