Hi, the writer I was after is discontinued. Can anybody tell me the best I should go for instead?
It’s to work with a handful of laptops, all supporting usb2.

get the IDE drive of your choice and put it in a good usb2 enclosure. Ppl tend to recommend enclosures with NEC chipset. I can’t comment nowadays because I am a pure firewire convert now.
