Yep. I'd take the 812S over any of the 3 other LiteOn drives that you mentioned. At least in the US, the 812S is only a few dollars more than the older, discontinued LiteOns.
It all depends on what you want. The NEC has its strengths (superior writing quality) as well as its weaknesses (it's the slowest of the 8x DVD burners, it's reading isn't all that great, etc.). The LiteOn, too, has strengths (good reading, good/fast CD burning, etc.) and its weaknesses (pickiness when it comes to DVD media). So if all you want to do is burn lots and lots of cheap media, get the NEC. If you want something more well-rounded, try something else.
