Best appz for transferring data from one to another partitioned harddrive?

vbimport

#1

I am busy with building in new harddrives, and they have large data, now I want to use less time possible and no-data-loss, to transfer all my data,
from one western digital harddrive partition to another hitachi deskstar harddrive partition, without doing images but using direct transfer instead, which appz is best ?

Which is the most suitable farstone driveclone, partition magic etc. ?

Are you transferring just data files, or O/S installs withj it as well… just wanted to clarify for sure?

#4

Ghost has one of the fastest copy engines on board.

If it’s just data can you not use Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V.

If you want to move the O/S and everthing then Ghost is good. However if the drives are no the same and the partitions are not the same I think you will get a knackered image when you try to restore.

#6

xcopy c:\source d:\destination /h /e /-Y

/-Y will prompt you to confirm before overwriting a file.

xcopy is a command within windows

I would just use windows explorer and give it time to go
if its gigs of files, then break it up into smaller portions for increased stability

thats easiest

if you want it all at once instructions above on xcopy are already given by another member, btw, its in command prompt
