BenQ822A Burning problems

vbimport

#1

I have the BenQ 822A burner and it was working great until recently. The last few discs that I have tried to burn have come out as coasters. Using Nero, about 1 minute into the burn I get a burning error. I then tried using Nero CD-DVD speed to check out the drive, and while making a data disc I got an error “Invalid Address For Write (052102)”.

I am using WinXP, firmware B3IC, and tried Maxell and Memorex discs (both RICOHJPN R01).

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jason

#2

I also run into problems with Nero (latest version) and my Benq DW822A drive. After a few coasters I deinstalled Nero and installed other burning app. Since then, I burned over 60 Maxell DVD+R and didn’t have a single coaster. You could reinstall Nero and see if that helps, if not, try installing a different burning app.
Good Luck!

Update:

I have tried other burning programs including Alcohol 120% and DVD Decrypter, and neither of these will burn either. I get about 200MB into the burn and then I get an Invalid Address for Write error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I now have enough coasters to last a long time.

Jason

CopyToDVD seems to be reliable, give it a try!
Download trial from here:

http://www.vso-software.fr/download.htm

If for some reason that one doesn’t work either, maybe a WinXP reinstall would help…

THE FIX!! I began to get that exact same problem (Invalid Address For Write) error using DVD Decrypter. I was also getting an “SCSI error” and errors that my blank DVD’s may be bad. This all seemed to start after I installed a few programs like DVD X Copy Platinum, NERO, and DVD 2 One. Out of frustration I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled everything except those programs I just listed. I tested DVD Decrypter and it worked! 1 by 1, I reinstalled those programs and I found the cause of the problems. It was NERO. I uninstalled NERO and used a registry cleaner (Reg Edit) to remove all the entries about NERO and rebooted. Then I could burn DVD’s again. I tested this 6 times and each time I installed NERO I got the errors and each time I uninstalled NERO and cleaned the registry I could burn after I rebooted. Good luck. Hope this helps you all. I was about to go insane trying to figure out what was happening. If this helps you, please post it here and on a few other forums as there are a LOT of others having these troubles.

#7

How about Nero only without DVD 2 one and Movie copy?

#8

i’ve been using cloneDVD and DVDxCopy xpress and no problems for almost one and a half year…

#9

Hey All,

My burner is driving me nuts. It was working fine for the last year and a half. Then it would give me a coaster one in every 20 or so CD’s. Acceptable I figured. Then it just stopped working all together. At first I could at least get it to burn CD’s that had already been started (multisession) but blank CD’s wouldn’t work at all. Now neither work. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling various burning medias, that hasn’t helped. I tried different CD’s, that hasn’t helped. I’ve made sure the power supply is good and turned off anti-virus software. Any ideas? I posted my latest log below:

This software may contain VSO’s problem-causing Patton Couffin driver, known to become corrupted easily and botch DVD writers. Uninstall the VSO and associated software to remove the source of the problems and get a slightly faster computer as a bonus.
Use DVDShrink (free) instead to size and save an ISO (nearly automatic–very easy). Use DVDDecryptor’s (free) ISO write mode, or better yet, RecordNow’s ISO writing.
