Trying to burn a 4+ GB file on to both Benq DVD+R [DVD+R:DAXON-AZ2-000]
as well as MAxell DVD+R 8x Maxell 002 media. I am getting the following error from the current version of Nero off their web site

3:34:56 PM #20 CDR -1064 File Writer.cpp, Line 311
Invalid block address

Using WinXP SP2 w 1 GB memory. Benq firmware is at BL79.

#2

Firmware is B7L9.

#3

Try updating your firmware

#4

Are you trying to overburn data on the disc as it seems from a quick search that is where the error message seems to stem from ?

#5

To which version though?

#6

Latest… B7V9 would be a good start. =)

#7

Using ISO or UDF format ?

#8

No the file in question shows as 4.063 GB in Windows explorer.

#9

So you’re burning in UDF format rather than ISO, right ?

ISO format doesn’t support single files over 1Gb, although I’m not sure if that particular error message has any relation to that fact.

#10

It’s hard to say anything out of information pcguy999 provided sofar.

pcguy999, post whole Nero log output in

wraps and tell us what you are up to please.
Don't forget to remove Nero serial.

 ;)

#12

This file was created by my backup program. I want to burn it to a DVD. It is not an image aka ISO file.

In Nero, if you open a new compilation, you specify from the menu which format you want to use. The first option is DVD ISO, then further down the list is DVD UDF.

I’m pretty sure Nero will give an error or warning if you drag a >1Gb into a compilation being burned under the ISO standard though.

BENQ DVD DD DW1620 atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off
Enable DMA. If burn already failed 6-7 times, remove IDE-channel the drive is connected to in devicemanager and restart compu. Windoze will install new IDE drivers, so don’t worry.

3:34:56 PM -Invalid block address
3:33:10 PM -Start write address at LBA 0
Can you report back what drive is doing for approx. 1½ minute. Is it spinning up at all, burning, or what.

We still like to know “what” you are burning. No need to be specific, just say data-, movie- or “what ever” -file(-s).

#16

I am selecting DATA DISC via the Wizard.

Ok after checking the cable configuration I found that for some reason the Benq was jumpered as master but was not on the end connector of the IDE ribbon cable and DMA was not enabled in XP. Have moved it to the end connector and have been able to burn and verify this file. Will have to keep an eye on it and see if any problems occur. Thanks for all the suggestions.
