We forgot to include the Benq DW800 series drives.
(Or someone who knows more than I didn’t include them for a reason)
According to this the DW800A uses the Nexperia PNX7850 chip. It says that the Philps DVDR824P & CyberDrive DX082D also use the same chip (so presumably rebadges?). WOPC is mentioned, but no SolidBurn (didn’t arrive until the DW1600?).
C0deKing’s Benq FAQ says the Philips DVDR885P is a BenQ DW830A rebadge. It also has links to reviews of the BenQ DW822A, DW830A (preview) & Philips DVDR885P. (I had a quick look and they don’t mention the chip used, but presumably they are also Nexperia-based)
I think I remember reading somewhere that some or all of the DW800 series drives can scan discs, but I haven’t yet been able to check this.
I know of 3 Benq models in this series (DW800A, DW822A & DW830A). Were there any others?
Benq sold a firmware update (for $10) to add support for +DL to the DW800A. I found references to it being possible to crossflash these drives (DW800A -> DW822A -> DW830A). Can anyone remember trying this?
I admit these drives are so old now that this information isn’t of much practical use, but it would be nice to have every Nexperia drive on the list.
