Let me fire up the burners... I don't have any AZ2 anymore, but I think I can find a few Sony D21/16D1 and some Daxon AZ3/016S I'm not sure if my Sony discs are MIT or MIMalaysia, but I'm pretty sure all my Daxons came from Malaysia.
Personally, before I run off and burn some discs, I've found 16x Daxons to be slightly inconsistent as many have said before. The difference is when you got a good batch of 16x Daxons, they were really good. The 8x Daxons were very consistent (went through 200 or so of those things in 25pk spindles) but had error rates that were higher than the 16x. And I'm talking about BenQ branded Daxons here.
8x Inkjet Printable BenQ Daxons, in my experience, were greatly inconsistent (bordering on Memorex fame). While most yielded great results it wasn't a surprise if others had qualities that would make a standalone die. I haven't seen 16x Inkjet Printables so I can't comment on that.
OT: on the underrated media "crown", I'd vote for Optodisc like neg, but don't get me wrong - Daxons aren't any worse, only that Optos are better overall (at least in tests).
