[qanda]This thread is about the BenQ DW1670. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]After reinstalling Windows XP, the dvd-writer (benq dw1670) became unable to read or write dvd-r (haven't try dvd+r but not likely to work, i think? In any case, it works fine with dvd-r before the reinstallation.) but is ok with reading and writing cdrs. However, it is able to play proper movie dvds albeit with the same growling noise it emitted (think: what old floppy disk drives reading sounds like back in those days) during the initial reading stage, which also applies to those failed attempts at reading dvdrs. It was pretty silent when it comes to cdrs which is pretty much the same with dvdrs before the windows reinstallation. Any idea what is wrong with it? Thanks in advance.
Uninstall it in device manager, reboot, and let XP auto-detect it again.
