BENQ DW1655 burning problem

I just bought this new Benq DW1655 and I am getting the same burning error on Nero. But it is not on every burn and I have not been able to figure out what is causing it. I am burning on TDK 8x DVD+R’s. I have not tried any other programs or media brands yet. I’m hoping someone can tell me what is going on so I can stop wasting the DVD+R’s I have now.

Here is the error report:

Some people are having problems using Nero because it’s buggy. Try another burning software to see if that solves your problem. I use CloneCD myself, others swear by ImgBurn.

Alright, I suppose I can try that later. No time now. Thanks for the reply! I’ll report back later.

DMA is OFF for all drives!!!

All those virtual drives can also produce errors.

CdRomPeripheral : BENQ DVD LS DW1655 nvatabus Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off

I think it has been mentioned before that with Nero it reports the drives as DMA off when using nVidia IDE drivers. These nVidia drivers will also cause problems.

Try updating to the newest version of the nVidia IDE drivers as some people have had luck with them BUT you may end up uninstalling them and going back to the basic Miscorosoft ones as they are 100% compatable with burning.

Boy! A rash of Nero problems lately???

Yeah I had read about turning DMA on in other posts before posting. I had my DMA set to Auto, but I’ve forced it to DMA2 to see if it fixes it. No burning problems yet. Crosses fingers
