what firmware version are you using Albert?

#2102

 I meant to put BEGB…slip of the finger and too much copy and paste. The firmware version shown in the 2 CD Speed graphs are correct.

I’ll try BEFB again at the next break…but I’m hoping it was just a fluke.

DRU-810A @ EW164B fw BEGB

I forgot to re-enable DMA before the burn, which explains the low buffer and low burn speed for the first ~100 MB.

Sweet! The 1640 is not known for good 16x +R burns.

#2108

do you have a 1640 Quality scan to post?

and you are still using BEGB? is there reason? if so please let me/us know.

#2109
do you have a 1640 Quality scan to post?
No, I do not. To scan with the BenQ, I have to switch to PIO mode, then switch back to burn the next disc, etc. I haven’t been able to narrow the cause of that issue down [no other computer to troubleshoot with]. It’s kinda annoying to do that, at least for the way I usually burn and scan.

and you are still using BEGB? is there reason? if so please let me/us know.

Just sheer laziness. I wanted to get right into the burning of things. I do plan to go back to BEFB later and try the last 5 or 6 disc models I burned with that FW.

Burned With: Nero 7.11.6.0
Burned at: 8x speed
with BenQ DW1640/BSLB

perfect TRT

#2111

Nice. Really nice. That T02@T03 strat’s working for you.

#2112

Thanks, I have been using that strat. for years.

FujiFilm 16x DVD+R

Switched to the older BEFB. Not much of a difference here.

The old toothbrush effect seems to have been lessened with this scan, though, appearing as only spikes instead of small, spikey clumps. It still spiked 1 higher to a max PIF of 6, though.

JVC 16x DVD+R
RITEK F16 ||| RiTEK Corp. ||| Made in Taiwan

BEFB. The drive was smart enough to fall back to 4x [though last time it managed 12x].

BEFB.

This disc…not the best one, obviously. Still, I guess it was mechanically sound enough to overspeed.

Memorex 16x DVD+R
MBIPG101 R05 ||| Moser Baer India, Ltd. ||| made in India

BEFB.

Don’t blame Memorex or Moser Baer…this is the worst result I’ve seen with this media, and it looks like a mistake on my part to leave it to burn at 16x without WOPC.
