This media makes use of WOPC with my drive. Still, I forgot that BenQ drives could do such fast 12x burns.

T02, good as always. :slight_smile:

Lets see the same disc scanned @8X with the BenQ that recorded it. :wink:

#2052

Although I can’t promise the disc was totally clean [I tend to drop discs, scratch them up, etc after being scanned the first time, with the main issues occurring near the outer edge], here’s the not-so-bad scan of the T02 above, scanned in the BenQ.

I have done a lot of media tests on this drive it is now in an external enclosure with initio 1430L 1394 chipset. no fan but I removed the usb port and installed a fan in it’s place now it runs cool and BSRB has been giving me lots of problems like during reading and trt’s. now that I am using BSLB & this firewire instead of usb I haven’t had one problem.
default settings i think that it is stupid of BenQ to have an older firmware that is better and less problematic than a newer firmware

#2054

Interesting. I was late to the 1640 party and haven’t bothered testing firmwares other than BSLB except for one mcc004 burn at 16x with one of the early firmwares that came with the drive (results were not pretty).

I guess there is not much point changing the firmware then…

BEFB = BSLB + DMA4

BEGB = BSNB + DMA4

BEFB is better if you’re going to use your drive externally and as a scanner. It doesn’t have the speed dips or other reading problems that later firmwares had, just like BSLB.

And Firewire is always preferable to USB2, even if you aren’t noticing specific problems. Scans are more accurate, PIE on burns is lower, etc.

BEFB + Firewire = Best External Configuration
