Would it mean the Benq DVD-R is better than the DVD+R because the manufacturer is Sony.
Is the results the same for the 4x media?
Which is better the DVD-R or DVD+R?

#4

I would like ot know for certain as well, cause of Boxing week Future Shop has them on for INSANE prices!!

#5

Benq 8X -R is made by Benq with the Sony MID and the +R with their own Daxon code (Benq=Daxon=Acer). Search the Media thread and you will find that the 8X-R is more favourable than the 4X ones. For the +R, you can consider the Fuji in Best Buy on Dec26, C$19.99/50 cake box.

Shoudn’t this thread be moved to Media Forum?

Does the 4x use a differnt dye from the 8x? And is Azo dye any good, the 4x seemed to be Azo dye. Which is good for storage?

#8

yes

#9

All I know is I picked up 800 of these for cheap cheap, and thus far after going through 100 in a weekend, I am pretty happy. No coasters, and the price sure as hell was right.

#10

I have been using the 8x BenQ DVD-R (SONY08D1) for some months in my NEC 3500. They overspeed to 16x (full dvd burn = ~5.40 mins) with official 2.18 firmware.

#11

Are there any other burners other then the BenQ 1620 and the NEC3500 that support these discs at 16x? Since I have so many of them, and my LG 4120 only does them at 4x, I kinda wanna get a new burner  hehe. 15 minutes is too long for a burn now. I would like 6 minutes to save some time!

#12

Just like to add that my 4120 with the new 115 firmware now does the BenQ +R 8x discs at 8x. So I am fairly happy now  I wonder if they will do the -R at 8x as well now. Guess firmware updates are a good thing every once in a while haha.

#13

I have an LG 4120 also.

The A115 firmware indicates 8x burning with the 8x BenQ dvd-r (SONY08D1) media, though I have not burned any discs yet. This seems to be an improvement over previous firmware.

Rambaud, I have gone through 50 dvd’s since my last post, and all of them were at 8x. No coasters burned. I am extremely happy with this new addition to the firmware, I just hope that memorex 8x dvdr’s can not be burned consistantly for me
