BenQ 5224W/WU, 5232W, 5232X

Somewhere I should have a copy of firmware KPFY for the 5232X. It was an unreleased version I was sent by Benq’s excellent UK support. (A few years after they quit the ODD business!)

Unfortunately I couldn’t persuade it to upgrade either of my 5232X drives - one running KPEY, the other still on KPDY.

If I can find the file I’ll post it here so other people can have a play.

P.S.
A brand new (sealed) retail 5232W has just appeared on Ebay UK:

My mistake, it’s a 5232W, not an X.

[Can’t even get my eyes pointing in the same direction at the moment, let alone in focus. :(]

fixed it for you.

Someone install soft from Plextor PX-230A to the construction BenQ 5232X?

I had a go some years back after getting my first 5232X, but I didn’t pursue the idea too far as I couldn’t replace the drive if it was bricked.

The Plextor EXE can be opened with 7Zip and reveals a firmware BIN, the flasher (PXFirm_B.exe) and an INI file. The INI file looks very promising and I experimented with changing the drive name, but was unsuccessful.

Alas the Benq all-in-one flashers aren’t so obliging, but it may be possible to unpack the EXE using other tools.

As far as I know there are no 3rd party firmware tools for Ali-based drives.

Your 5224W looks rather unwell. :frowning:

Have you tried a TRT with a known good disc written with another drive?

For anyone who wants it, here is KPFY for the Benq 5232X.

As I mentioned before, it direct from Benq support and I don’t think it was released publically. It refused to flash my 5232X at the time and I haven’t tried it again.

I have not tried that yet. I’m trying to see if I have another one in my collection somewhere.

Anyone else having trouble downloading this firmware? I keep getting third-party downloads when I click on the link.

Plextor PX-230A
Change the ID of the installer is not a problem - what one can see that he did ;).
But what will he …?
I feel sorry for the experiment on this copy … For me, these models very difficult available.

BenQ 5232X firmware KPFY - also can not install …
Maybe someday second new plug in and see if it is on the same …
