Benq 1650v fast ripping

I’ve searched a few sites and read a lot, but still am not certain about what if anything I need to do to my drive.
I have a Benq 1650v DVD-ROM.
It is labeled as 16x on the front of the drive but I’m sure it probably won’t rip near that fast and has some type of riplock slowdown on it.

I would like to know what I need to do to the drive to be able to rip DVDs at a full speed of 16x, especially ones I’m trying to make “archival backups” of .

I’d prefer to keep it flashed a Benq instead of Plextor or something else if possible.

Please tell me what files I need, where to find them, and a basic idea of what to do from there.

I’ve noticed that the flashes for this drive are getting extremely hard to find.

If it makes any difference, the drive was manufactured in 2005.

Thanks very much for any help provided as I’m kinda stumped at this point.

I don’t remeber if it will be named as Plextor or BenQ, but you need this:

Edit: I think it changes it. If you really need to keep the BenQ name, you need this
http://club.cdfreaks.com/attachments/f43/93280d1162986263-px-130a-benq-1650v_tane.zip
which is one firmware version before the last.

Would you please tell me the differences between the 2 "fixes"other than the name change to Plextor?
I’m sure you realize this, but riplock elimination is my big concern. I don’t really care that much if the firmware doesn’t manipulate or eliminate country codes.

What is RPC2?

Thanks very much.

The first firmware (TAOE) is a newer version than the second (TANE).

Thank you very much for your help.

My drive is now Riplock and RPC2 free!!
It now shows up as a Plextor, but I can live with that.
