running a 1640WD (BSOB firmware) as secondary slave in my rig. The drive works fine, no problems at all.
Having some troubles with a Soundblaster driver I decided to reinstall Windows. Everything worked fine until I got a 5 minute freeze during the hardware installation. The setup poceeded but during the network installation I was prompted to insert the Windows CD as the setup was not able to detect the folder I386. Searching the drives the BenQ was marked with a little red interrogation mark. The error message was something like "Hardware not available".
Fortunately I had a copy of i386 on my harddisk so that I was able to complete the installation. Once Windows was installed the drive worked faultless, but when I repeated the setup (as I couldn't explain the failure) I got the same error. No difference whether I tried to install Windows XP SP2 or Windows XP x64. Therefore I would exclude a media failure.
Anybody else facing this problem ? Any suggestions ?
