@tomspeed. Welcome to CDF. If you still have time to edit your post you need to remove the Nero serial number from the log you posted.

This:

Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)
usually means bad media. So the next logical question would be, what kind of media are you trying to burn and have you tried a different media or burning at a lower speed?

Nero version: 6.3.1.26 (Nero Express)
Update with the latest Nero 6.6.0.16.

Recorder: BENQ DVD DD DW1640
What firmware are you using?

Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)
It means bad media.

Media type: DVD-R. Disc Manufacturer: TYG02 -
What brand? Is it real TY?

File ‘Drivers\atapi.sys’: Ver=5.1.2600.1106 (xpsp1.020828-1920)
I personally recommend Windows XP SP2. It will also updates the IDE/ATAPI driver to 5.1.2600.2180.

Missed the disc type obviously.:o

Thanks crossg an Zevia.
At first, I used DVD+R Samsung 8X and Burning speed i tried maximum which goes to 8x n failed with the error session fixation error, i have chosen 2 X then it goes for the same result, so i change to another DVD-R media Trilex 8X (i choose Taiwan brand since benq from taiwan, n Trilex recommendation also recommend Benq dvd writer), came out with burn failed, n above is the log.

Firmware is the latest BSLB

I will update Nero to the latest and windows xp to SP2 later n try again with other media. May I know which medias are the most compatible with Benq 1640?
Memorex? Imation? Ricoh? Sony? Ritex?

Thanks

Tom

Trilex 8x Made in Taiwan = TYG02? Then it’s probably a fake TYG02. TYG02 (produced by TY=Taiyo Yuden) is a high quality media and should say Made in Japan on the package or on the disc.

Memorex? Imation? Ricoh? Sony? Ritex?
Can you get Verbatim? If it’s too costly, then Sony DVD+R 8x would work, if you can get Sony 8x DVD+R made in Japan that’s even better because it is most likely TY. Next would be Ricoh 8x DVD+R. Any other choices?

Wow,dvd media also has a fake. wat is the world now? anyway thanks zevia.
i got Trilex 8x Made in Taiwan for SGD20 for 25 pcs. Its probably fake. I will get Sony or Ricoh or Verbatim then. But must it be DVD+? Can i use DVD- instead?
