BDR-205 Cant read files on BD disk

Hello everyone, newb here.

XP-Pro
Pioneer BDR-205bk SATA BD drive
Firmware?? I don’t know how to read that.

I just purchased a Pioneer BDR-205bk and am using XP-Pro sp3. In device mgr it says it’s a pioneer BDR-205, but in explorer it is just a CD drive. When I use explorer to look at the files on the BD disk a window opens and says “Windows cannot read from this disc. The disc might be corrupted or may be using a format not compatable with Windows”.
Is there a Windows or Pioneer driver I need in order to allow me to read the files?

Any help would be appreciated.

What type of BD disk ? video, data ? If it is a video BD you cannot access it because of UDF 2.5 don’t have native support in Windows XP

Make sure the used SATA controller is set up correctly, probably in the BIOS.

Well I checked everything out, but you do have to Rip the Files if you want to Back them up. If you are using Explorer File Manager, you should see three folders. The Back-up BD only has two folders, BDMV and Certificate. If you are planning on Backing up Blu-ray Movies, I suggest you first start with DVD Movies. I use DVDFab and I highly recommend this software. It does both DVD and Blu-ray now. Check the Link below I think I have everything worked out.

I dont have any problem ripping or playing the BD just reading the BD while using explorer. I called Pioneer and they said they were not in the software business and therefor no driver for XP from them. I did find a couple of websites that had the UDF 2.5 drivers that “should” work. Haven’t installed them yet.

I use MEIUDF in winxp. See here: http://club.myce.com/f142/need-udf-file-handler-win-xp-277044/#post2291842

I’m using Windows XP Pro also, and I have no problem reading Blu-ray Files. Now tell me if you can read any Files and Folders. Did you go to my Link, can you read the Files on a DVD? If you can’t even read DVD Files, you are not set up right. Understanding Files and Folders is very basic, and to play a DVD or Blu-ray is streaming either the VOB Files or the M2TS Files. So if you understand this concept you will have no problems.

I understand. I’ve backed up 100’s of DVD’s and know about the TS_AUDIO and TS_VIDEO files. I can play the ripped MT2s files but cant read the bd disk. I’m hoping some of the UDF drivers will do the trick. I’ll get back.
