I'm having some trouble with my new 1620Pro, I'm not that satisfied with the results near the end my discs.
I'm quite new to all of this so have that in mind.
The most extreme case I've encountered was when I tried to make a data-dvd and everything went fine although the outer edge has some serious PIEs.
The DVD is burned on a verbatim 4x (MCC 002) @ 4x (and if I'm not saying anything else thats what I use).
The scan starts out good (in my eyes):
But at the end:
That CD was both burned and scanned with the B7S9 firmware. And I was using an old verison of CD-DVD speed so the measurement was only done in around 1x (and didn't show ony PIFs).
I don't know why, if it's because I burned an data-dvd or something else but I did duplicate the result with another DVD (same content) but I haven't seen those extreme numbers with any other DVD I've burned yet (and except for those 2 I've only burned DVD movies so far).
A typical scan for a dvd-movie (note, I'm using v.3.61 of CD-DVD Speed now so I have increased the speed to 8x, the scan is made with the B7T9 firmware but the burn was made with the old B7S9 firmware).
Again, the beginning looks fine but the end but the end is not quite the same:
(wondering how it could get a quality score of 95 :o )
Thinking that it might be the media I decided to push my luck and tried a verbatim 8x (MCC 003) @ 12x.
But that wasn't appretiated as you can see.
So I got the B7T9 firmware and made my first disc (@4x):
Tried it again and it did atleast finish but the result was even worse than whats shown here.
Another as a nero test dvd (burned at 8x):
I'm a bit lost.
Of course a more ideal solution would be to try different media but in my world verbatim (MCC) is good enough to be a safe bet for reliable results (atleast I thought that was the case, if it's not I don't know what to get).
Right now I'm running out of DVDs, time and money (and the will to buy more since I don't know if I can trust the result).
I have a pair of verbatim 8x mcc 003 discs left that I might sacrifice since I've only burned one of those and that was @12x.
But does anyone have any suggestions to what might be wrong?
I guess that I will try to get a hold of different brands of dvds tomorrow and try them out but I'm not that optimistic.
