Backups only play in cheaper dvd players and not my xbox

I have tried to backup movies but when i do they only play in cheaper dvd players and not my xbox. I use Shrink and Decrypter. Can you please help me with what or how i can fix this.

Hi and welcome to the forum

xbox can be really picky about media. What media are you using (brand and mediacode)?

Haha, Geno beat me to it …first off, what burner do you have (and firmware)?

Also, what media are you using? Pop one of the discs into DVDIdentifier, and post the MID info

BTW, welcome

My Xbox will play someone else burnt copies but not mine i need advice.

My advice is to buy better media, like verbatim.

What is your burner?

Sony DRU810A 16x DVD Burner.
Dual Layer and Double Layer Burning!
Sony’s new DVD burner incorporates new 8.5GB DVD-R Dual Layer, DVD+R Double Layer burning and dual format 4.7GB DVD burning. Double/Dual Layer discs let you store up to 8.5GB on a single DVD+R Double Layer or DVD-R Dual Layer disc, giving you plenty of room for more video and audio entertainment, digital photo archives, and information storage. DVD+R burning speed is a blazing 16X max, burning a full DVD in approximately 6 minutes. Double Layer and Dual Layer Recording speed is 8X max. DVD+RW speeds are 8X max for DVD+RW and 6X max for DVD-RW respectively. Ultra fast 48X max CD-R burning means you no longer need a separate CD Burner for good performance. What hasn’t changed is the DRU-800A comes bundled with an unbeatable Nero 6.6 software suite and also includes a black front panel to match black colored PCs.

now what???

Ok, then you can do scans. Insert one of your problematic discs in the burner, start cd-dvd speed (you can find latest version here), select the “disc quality” tab, select 4x as speed, and press the start button.

After about 15 min, when scan finish, press the little button with a floppy in the high right corner of the window, and save the pic as PNG.

Finally post the pic here

A little of patience is not bad

it gets an error it says Focus Servo Failure (040902)

Hi
I don’t believe the Sony 810 supports disc quality scanning.  Just one of the reasons so many folks crossflash to BenQ 1640. :iagree:
Attaching disc quality scans.
You can bitset though.

This explain why xbox can’t read the disc. Probably it contain so much errors that can’t be read by a picky drive like xbox.

Try to burn a better media like verbatim or taiyo yuden.

EDIT: Zebadee found the solution :iagree:
I thought that the 810 was a rebranded liteon

Thank i will.

Hi
Nope the 800 was I believe.
Sony 810 review.
It might be worth Brandon BB1 checking/trying bitsetting.

Do the DVDIdentifier thing with the “someone else’s” discs and see what they are.

I think you will find the answer to be with the bitsetting outlined above… My XBox has a Samsung DVD-ROM (you can tell because the tray has a couple circular holes in it), and won’t take a DVD+R unless it has been bitset to -ROM.

This media is cheap, so the results will be.

Exactly as tehGrue says.

If it’s an early XBox it won’t read -R media at all unless it’s modded. That was the case with mine which I got about 9 months after release in the UK.

Bit Setting to DVD-ROM should work though.

The other thing is that the Xbox DVD Player is not multi-region so a PAL one will only play PAL movies etc.

Whilst the CMC MAG E01 is a relatively cheap media they don’t burn too badly.

This scan is a burn today on my NEC4570 which isn’t the best burner around at the moment.
