Want to backup Tony hawk’s skater2 . Anybody any experience with trying to backup this great game?I get a great deal of bad sectors and it takes hours to backup…

Because of the read-errors I suspect the game has SafeDisc 2 as a protection. The settings for SafeDisc 2 are ‘Fast Error Skip’ enabled and maybe ‘Amplify Weak Sectors’. You might want to do some reading on SD2 before you start backing-up the game:

If you want to know if your game has SafeDisc 2 as a protection use a so-called copy protection scanner like ClonyXL (for downloads check www.ghostcdr.com) or check the files on the disc manually:
